The goal of Purchasing/Inventory is to ensure that Plano taxpayers receive the maximum value for every expenditure and that all expenditures are conducted in a manner that preserves the public trust.
In July of 2016 the City of Plano's Purchasing Division received the 21st Annual "Achievement of Excellence in Procurement" Award. This award was designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement and is recognized by all major Public Purchasing Professional Organizations nationally and internationally. The annual award is designed to measure excellence in innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership. Plano has received this award every year since its inception.
The Purchasing Division also has earned the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award (OA4) from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, which recognizes those agencies that lead the public procurement profession.
