Garage Sale Signs
Garage sale signs may be placed on your private property or your neighbor’s private property with their permission.
Signage in violation of the sign ordinance may be subject to a fine not to exceed $500. Fines are at the discretion of the prosecutor or judge.
Private Property Boundaries
Your private property is not the strip of grass between the curb and sidewalk. This is City right-of-way.
In the front yard of a home, right-of-ways normally extend 10 feet from the back of the street curb.
In the back yard, right-of-ways normally extend 3 feet behind pavement on alleys.
No signs are allowed on medians of public streets.
No signs are allowed on corners of public streets.
No signs are allowed in the right-of-way of a public street.
No signs are allowed in subdivision entrances.
No signs are allowed on the grass next to the curb of a public street.
No signs are allowed next to or adjacent to a screening wall of a public street.
