Motions for Continuance

Filing a Motion for Continuance
The Municipal Court Judge will permit both the state and the defendant to request one reset of the pending case. However, you must file a Request (Motion) for Continuance prior to your scheduled court date and time to be eligible for a reset without penalty.

If you need a second reset, you must file another Request for Continuance and you will be required to post a cash bond to get a new court date.

Failure to Appear
If you failed to appear on your scheduled date and time, the fine will be increased by $50.00, not to exceed the maximum amount allowed by state law. If you would like to reset your case, you will be required to post a cash bond to obtain another court setting.

If you had an attorney and either your attorney or you failed to appear on your scheduled date and time, an appearance bond will be required to obtain another court setting.

If an appearance bond was previously filed and either you or the attorney failed to appear on your scheduled date and time, a cash bond will be required to obtain another court setting.
