The Cox Building Playhouse is a fully customizable, black box-style theater in Historic Downtown Plano. With seating, lighting, and sound setup to your specification, this venue is the perfect place to bring your vision to life. Receptions, recitals, stage plays, rehearsals, banquets, meetings, and private parties are all common occurrences in this unique venue.
The Cox Building Playhouse is located in the bottom floor of the Plano Independent School District’s Cox Building. The Cox Building was originally constructed as a high school in 1938 as part of the Works Progress Administration Project. Eventually, the school out grew the building and it was renovated in 2005. The Cox Building now serves to office Plano ISD employees and The Cox Building Playhouse.
From U.S.-75 - Northbound
Take the Plano Parkway exit and turn right at the 15th Street stoplight. Take a left on Avenue G. The parking lot will be on your right.
From U.S.-75 - Southbound
Take the 15th Street exit and turn left at the 15th Street stoplight. Take a left on Avenue G. The parking lot will be on your right.
From President George Bush Turnpike - Eastbound
Take the Alma Drive exit. Turn left onto Alma Drive. Turn right at the 15th Street stoplight. Continue under U.S.-75. Take a left on Avenue G. The parking lot will be on your right.
From President George Bush Turnpike - Westbound
Take the Avenue K exit. Turn right onto Avenue K. Avenue K will veer right at become Municipal Avenue. Turn left onto 15th Street. Turn right on Avenue G. The parking lot will be on your right.
Free parking is available at the rear of the Courtyard Theater-Cox Playhouse complex off of Avenue G. A small number of spaces are available in front of the buildings on Avenue H. After hours and during weekends, the Municipal Court parking lot across 15th Street can serve as overflow parking.
