Mosquito Populations in Plano

Traps set up within the City during the last 10 years yielded samples of Culex species (Southern House Mosquito), which are capable of carrying West Nile Virus (WNV). Likelihood of WNV generally increases during summer months as this mosquito's population increases. These mosquitoes thrive in hot weather and may become infected after biting a bird with WNV.
