Temporary Food Events

Event Planning

Each year thousands of people attend festivals, firework displays, carnivals, and runs. Have you ever wondered, “What does it take to put an event like this together?” This section will provide you with the tools needed to make your event safe and fun in the City of Plano.

Special events occurring within the City of Plano, on City property, on Collin County Community College property, and/or Plano Independent School District property may require permits from various City departments. The event and details surrounding the event will undergo review and approval.

Large events will require a vendor meeting with the Environmental Health Department to review information including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Booth setup
  • Equipment
  • Food source
  • Liquid waste disposal
  • Menu selection
  • Sanitation
  • Trash disposal

Next time you plan your event, think about making it a Minimal Waste event. A minimal waste event is defined as an event that diverts 90% or more waste from the landfill. This is accomplished by putting the principles of the 3R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – into place.
