We have many wonderful animals that are available for adoption here at the City of Plano Animal Shelter. All of these animals were either given up to us by their previous owner or have become the property of the City due to no owner claiming them after the required holding We have dogs and cats of every breed, size, color, and age that are looking for new families. The availability of any animal is subject to change at any time. If you see an animal listed that you think may be a welcome addition to your home, write down all the information (especially the ID number) and give us a call. We can then tell you if the animal is still available for adoption or has already found a new home.
Adoption Fees
The adoption fee for all dogs and cats, puppies and kittens is $80. Many animals are listed as VIPs and their adoption fees are only $40! Adoption fees include all of the following:
Spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, first puppy or kitten vaccination, heartworm test for dogs (if old enough), a microchip, and microchip registration.*
These services could easily cost several hundred dollars at a private veterinary clinic if you were to get a “free” pet from elsewhere. Adopting from the Plano Animal Services allows you to save money while you save a life!
*By Texas State Law and Plano City Ordinance, all animals adopted from a civil agency must be sterilized and be vaccinated against the rabies virus as soon as the animal is old enough (3 months of age).
