Found Animals

The Animal Services Division works very hard at getting lost pets back to their owners. If you have found a pet and are willing to care for the animal until the owner can be located, please call us with the following information.

  • The date, zip code and major cross streets where the animal was found.
  • Breed of animal if known
  • Color of animal
  • Collar type and type of tags
  • Any other characteristics of the animal
  • Your name, address and phone numbers. Please state if you give permission to give the possible owner your phone number in order that they can contact you

We also ask that you bring the animal to the shelter so that it can be scanned for a microchip.  Please be advised that after five (5) days, you are considered the owner of said found animal and will be responsible to abide by all City Ordinances and State Laws, including rabies vaccination and city license requirements.  Finders can also bring the animal to our shelter anytime during our regular adoption hours, or they can request that an Officer pick the animal up from their residence.
