Citizens Academy
Plano Citizens Academy

The Plano Citizens Academy is open to residents of the City of Plano, 18 years of age and older. Sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at the Plano Municipal Center Training Room A from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

An optional Saturday bus tour of City facilities may be provided.



Mission Statement

The mission of the Plano Citizens Academy is to familiarize citizens with the function and purpose of City of Plano government and associated community organizations.

Attendees will:

Meet the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City Department Heads and staff;

Receive an overview of Plano's history;

Learn about the City of Plano's form of government; and

Gain an understanding of how each Department supports the Mission of the City.*

The mission of the City of Plano is to provide outstanding services and facilities, through cooperative efforts with our citizens, that contribute to the Quality of Life in our community.


Due to a lack of applications, the next class is postponed until Summer 2009. Additional details to be announced at a later date.  Applications are still being accepted now.
