The Radio Shop works on the future expansion and upgrades of our radio system in consultation with the City Officials and all consortium members. The Radio Shop ensures that the building of the radio system meets public safety standards for reliability and security, including: handling the licensing with the FCC for radio frequencies and ensures compliance with site safety and exposure levels. The Radio Shop ensures all radio sites and equipment is being maintained in accordance with federal regulations and tracks all mobile and portable radio equipment repairs.

The Radio Shop maintains fire AVL tracking system, mobile data transmitters, MDT hardware in both Police and Fire vehicles, Motorola Simulcast systems and all radio equipment including 9-1-1 consoles. This includes all departments within in the Cities of Plano, Allen, Frisco, Wylie, Murphy, Lucas, Parker and Frisco. This also includes programming of all the above equipment and daily repairs as they occur. The Radio Shop maintains the outdoor warning siren system and radios. Maintains microwave systems between Parkway, EOC, Hebron, and Frisco towers.


The Radio Shop replaced the Parkway communications shelter recently. This project involved replacing the antenna cable on the radio tower as well as the installation of a new concrete public safety grade shelter. This project was another step in the continuous upgrading of our communications network and helps insure uninterrupted communications in the future.

Works on future expansion and upgrades of our radio system and consults with the City Officials and all consortium members appropriately. He acts as backup for technical questions in regards to call outs for the Coordinator and the Technician. He ensures that the building of the radio system meets public safety standards for reliability and security. He also handles hiring of personnel and handles budgeting for the radio shop.

Radio Systems Coordinator

The Radio System Coordinator works on all the same equipment as the Technician, including: handling the licensing with the FCC for radio frequencies and ensures compliance with site safety and exposure levels. Ensures all databases tracking users on the radio system are current and oversees contractors work while on the premises. Ensures all maintenance of radio sites and equipment is being maintained in accordance with federal regulations.



Ronnie Allen
Radio Technician

The Radio Technician works on fire AVL tracking system, mobile data transmitters, MDT hardware in both Police and Fire vehicles, works on Motorola Simulcast systems in the towers and all radio equipment including 9-1-1 consoles, and all portable/mobile radios in the City of Plano, Allen and Frisco. This includes programming of all the above equipment and daily repairs as they occur. He also maintains the MOSCAD warning siren system, the microwave systems between Parkway and EOC towers.

Debra Elliott

Senior Administrative Assistant

Debra is the newest member of the Radio Shop Staff. Her duties will include working closely with all of our customers and vendors to ensure quality service in a timely manner. She is responsible to field phone calls and manage service calls while the technicians are in the field. She is the backup to the Radio Coordinator and the Radio Technician, which involves applying set-up procedures for programming Motorola portable radios, mobile radios, and changing radio ids. Also, removes and installs mobile radios in vehicles. Track all incoming and outgoing equipment on a daily basis, as well as shipping and receiving of equipment being sent off for repair. Interact with Motorola on tracking radio repairs. She is responsible for generating purchase orders and ordering supplies. She is familiar with how the radio system operates and knows what questions to ask when a problem arises, therefore, reducing downtime.
