Working under the direction of Library staff, volunteers provide numerous services such as shelving, book mending, genealogy searches, reference assistance and customer service. Volunteers with Library Links for Seniors share stories with seniors at care facilities. Small Talk volunteers facilitate small group conversations for individuals with English as a second language. Donation sorters assist with organizing books, magazines and media donated to the libraries.

The purpose of Teen Action Group is to develop supportive relationships with teens in the community by providing them with a forum to voice their opinions on library services and programs. Members may help plan and implement teen programs, promote the library within the community, and assist with Plano Public Library activities. Teens may count hours spent as community service.
