Becky was hired to be the Literacy for Life clerk, not a supervisor, but stepped up to the plate to provide leadership for the Literacy for Life program not once, but twice, when the coordinator’s position became vacant. Leading by example, Becky quickly learned to delegate and utilize Literacy volunteers to get things accomplished. With the help of volunteers, Becky organized and conducted a tutor training workshop, a student roundtable, and also implemented and promoted Rosetta Stone, a web based English language learning program . She assessed potential students, trained both tutors and students to use the new program and helped to organize literacy materials and make them more accessible.
Becky was always available to answer questions and to help others. She is well organized, respectful and appreciative of others’ time, and on target in her suggestions and direction. She is dedicated to the literacy program and creates a pleasurable working environment for both staff and volunteers.
Becky’s positive attitude, encouragement, and leadership kept the program running through several transitions. She projects an excellent image of the program to prospective tutors and helps make everyone’s job easier by never hesitating to go the extra mile. Thank you Becky for all you do.
