Paddling approved at Big Lake Park - May 2018
By city ordinance, only non-motorized, hand-paddled watercraft are permitted and only on approved ponds and lakes (Oak Point and Big Lake) as designated by Plano Parks & Recreation. As a reminder, swimming is not allowed. The following boating guidelines will help ensure the activity is enjoyed in a safe and responsible manner:

  • Kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards
  • Activity is pursued at operators own risk
  • Paddling is allowed from dawn to dusk
  • Follow the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Water Safety Code:
      - Wear a life jacket
      - Supervise children closely
    - Know how to swim
    - Avoid alcohol (prohibited in City of Plano parks)
  • Do not disturb wildlife, vegetation or habitat.
  • Do not engage in paddling activities if water is out of its banks.
