Do You Know Trail Etiquette?
People walking on one of Plano's TrailsFall weather is perfect for enjoying Plano Parks and Recreation Trails. For everyone’s safety, it’s important to practice trail etiquette.

Everyone

  • Be courteous to other trail users.
  • Stay to the right, except when passing someone.
  • Look both ways before crossing a trail.
  • Be alert to other trail users.
  • Listen for the sounds of faster-paced trail users.
  • Allow runners and bicyclists to pass safely.

Bicyclists

  • Yield to pedestrians and other slow users.
  • Stick to the 15 mph speed limit.
  • Provide a verbal or audible warning when passing another trail user.
  • Slow down and form a single line when approaching areas of congestion, reduced visibility and other hazardous situations.

Pet Owners

  • Keep dogs on a leash no more than 6 feet long.
  • Pick up after your pet to keep our parks clean and to prevent health issues.

The Plano Parks System includes 65 trail miles, so get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
