Car wash fundraisers are a common way for non-profit groups to raise funds. 

Runoff from car wash fundraisers, however, can cause serious water quality problems in creeks if the soapy water runs off into streets and storm drains.  Anything that enters storm drains flows untreated to the nearest waterway.

The City of Plano Health Department, Storm Water Program, is committed to the prevention of potential water pollution activities. Groups holding car wash fundraisers are not permitted to use soap, solvents, degreasers, or anything else that will cause water quality degradation if the waste water ends up in our creeks and streams.

The Health Department recognizes that these fundraisers can be beneficial to organizations not only from a fundraising standpoint, but also as a team building exercise. Click here to learn more about car wash fundraiser options.

In order to provide charity organizations with a good alternative that still allows them to hold charity car wash fundraisers using soap, we have created a list of commercial car wash facilities in Plano who are willing to provide the use of facilities for fundraising events or provide discounted car
wash vouchers for charity organizations to sell.

The participation of these car wash facilities is good news for our environment.  Water that washes off vehicles in car wash facilities flows through water recyclers or to the sanitary sewer where it can be treated.  By working with these facilities, your fundraiser will not only be good for your organization, it will be good for the environment!

Please note that you should contact the car wash facilities by using the contact information provided in the link below, as it has been provided expressly for this purpose.  The terms of agreements between the charity groups and commercial car washes are based solely upon the discretion of the commercial car wash owners and operators, and will not be overseen by the Plano Health Department.
