    The Aga Khan Council for Central United States is hosting 'Ethics in Action’ a multi-dimensional exhibition showcasing innovative solutions from the work of the Aga Khan Development Network that actualize our common values to improve the human condition. Friday, July 20, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Plano Municipal Center Lobby 1520 K Ave, Plano, TX 75074 The exhibit's interactive panels illustrate our shared ethics of inclusiveness, education, compassion, self-reliance, healthcare, sound mind, sustainable environment, and governance and aim to engage a diverse audience. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the City of Plano's Multicultural Outreach Roundtable.

    Registration for summer camps and classes begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 for Plano residents and at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 7 for everyone else. Classes begin the week of June 4. Swim, run, do tae kwon do, brush up on professional development skills, paint, dance, fish or learn to pickleball...these opportunities and more can be found in the Summer 2018 Recreation Catalog.

  1. Women in Theatre Festival

    Brick Road Theatre and Metropolitan Arts Media (TheaterJones) present the first annual WIT Festival: Celebrating Women in Theatre. Women leaders from all aspects of theatre will be represented, including artistic directors, producers, directors, music directors, choreographers, stage managers, educators, designers, actors, singers, and playwrights. A series of panels, classes, and symposiums, as well as performances, will be presented on a variety of topics, issues, and challenges women are currently facing in the world of theatre and the arts.

Police Department

  1. Vacation Safety School

    July 16, 2018, 9:00 AM - July 20, 2018, 12:00 PM @ Plano Police Department (Main Station)

    Vacation Safety School teaches safety skills to elementary school aged children. There are four separate one-week sessions during the summer. Thirty children, ages 6 to 9, attend each session. The program is operated free of charge to the participants. To qualify, students must be residents of Plano.

    Safety lessons are taught primarily by Plano Police Department personnel. Topics include:

    • Bicycle Safety

    • Explosive Ordinance Robot & Fireworks Safety

    • Home Alone Safety

    • Policeman is a Friend

    • Personal Safety (commonly called Stranger Awareness)

    • Traffic Safety

    • Gun Safety

    • Info to prevent Bullying

    During the week, the children are fingerprinted, participate in a bicycle rodeo, and take photos in a police Tahoe vehicle.
