    Registration for summer camps and classes begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 for Plano residents and at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 7 for everyone else. Classes begin the week of June 4. Swim, run, do tae kwon do, brush up on professional development skills, paint, dance, fish or learn to pickleball...these opportunities and more can be found in the Summer 2018 Recreation Catalog.

Police Department

  1. Vacation Safety School

    Vacation Safety School teaches safety skills to elementary school aged children. There are four separate one-week sessions during the summer. Thirty children, ages 6 to 9, attend each session. The program is operated free of charge to the participants. To qualify, students must be residents of Plano.

    Safety lessons are taught primarily by Plano Police Department personnel. Topics include:

    • Bicycle Safety

    • Explosive Ordinance Robot & Fireworks Safety

    • Home Alone Safety

    • Policeman is a Friend

    • Personal Safety (commonly called Stranger Awareness)

    • Traffic Safety

    • Gun Safety

    • Info to prevent Bullying

    During the week, the children are fingerprinted, participate in a bicycle rodeo, and take photos in a police Tahoe vehicle.

    Applications for Vacation Safety School are available ; call the Crime Prevention Unit at (972) 941-2431 for application information.

    Learn about our legal system by becoming jury members and attorneys. Interested in being a member of a teen jury? Plano Teen Court hears actual Class C Misdemeanor cases on Monday nights!
