Cases that are filed in the Texas Municipal Courts include Class C misdemeanor violations which include traffic, parking, state codes, and city ordinances.
City Ordinance Violations
City Ordinance violations are punishable by a maximum fine of $2,000. They include juvenile curfew, park curfew, environmental violations (pollution, land-development violations, health and safety violations associated with food service establishments, rubbish at a residence, animal violations, etc).
Parking violations are violations of the traffic code and/or city ordinances.
State Code Violations
State Code violations are punishable by a maximum fine of $500. They include violations like Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, etc.
Traffic violations include moving and non-moving violations, commercial vehicle violations, failure to maintain financial responsibility (insurance), compliance violation (expired drivers license and registration), etc.
