The Plano Parks Foundation was organized in 1983 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to preserve, promote, protect and enhance the parks and open spaces of the City of Plano by:
Securing and administering private funds to enhance and sustain parks
Promoting increased public funding for the Plano park system
Encouraging planned giving
Building community awareness and stewardship of the parks in Plano.
It is the intention of the Plano Parks Foundation to work alongside the Plano Parks and Recreation Department and the Plano Parks and Recreation Planning Board to be the bridge that connects people to parks and cultivate a growing sense of community.
Adopt a Tree Program
This program encourages citizens to purchase a planted tree to commemorate a family member or friend. A contribution of $400 covers the tree, your personal recognition plaque and tree maintenance. Trees are planted in the winter months and are maintained by the Plano Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, please see the Adopt a Tree page.
Memorial Bench Program
This program allows citizens to purchase a memorial bench in memory of a family member or friend. A contribution of $1,900 includes the bench with a memorial plaque, accessible concrete pad, site/irrigation repair and installation by a city-approved contractor. The plaques are installed quarterly. Please read here for more information about the program. View the Memorial Bench Policy here.
