Paddling at Big Lake Park By city ordinance, only non-motorized, hand-paddled watercraft are permitted and only on approved ponds and lakes (Oak Point and Big Lake) as designated by Plano Parks & Recreation. As a reminder, swimming is not allowed. The following boating guidelines will help ensure the activity is enjoyed in a safe and responsible manner:
Kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards
Activity is pursued at operators own risk
Paddling is allowed from dawn to dusk
Follow the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Water Safety Code: - Wear a life jacket - Supervise children closely - Know how to swim - Avoid alcohol (prohibited in City of Plano parks)
Do not disturb wildlife, vegetation or habitat.
Do not engage in paddling activities if water is out of its banks.
